Road Service Tire Technician performs tire and tire-related services at the customer's location, on the road, or any other location, according to customer requirements. Mounts, demounts, balances and repairs commercial and other tires and wheels. Being a Road Service Tire Technician organizes the work site, the vehicles and the appropriate tools and equipment for optimum job efficiency and safety. Follows established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after service, and notes other needed services; makes recommendations to customer. Additionally, Road Service Tire Technician typically requires an associate degree or equivalent, and requires appropriate TIA certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Road Service Tire Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Reports To: General Manager

    Summary: Performs tire and tire-related services at the customer’s location, on the road, at the shop, or any other location, according to customer requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Be reliable, report to work on time, complete jobs in a timely, efficient manner, and notify supervisor when completed. Must demonstrate team-oriented and cooperative attitude.
    • Demonstrate customer-friendly attitude, to include discretion, professional advice, positive outlook and can-do spirit, and be able to communicate with customers in a patient, polite, respectful, and professional manner.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively without close supervision.
    • Mounts, demounts, balances and repairs commercial and small OTR, and other tires and wheels as specified by the customer or service/center manager.
    • Organizes the work site, the vehicles and the appropriate tools and equipment for optimum safety and job efficiency.
    • Works safely at all times, according to standards and policies (to include the use of jack stands, use of air cages, remote airing devices, safety glasses, wheel chocks, and lock out tag) of OSHA, MSHA, DOT and TIA, and complies with company standards and policies regarding safety and efficient performance of services.
    • Follows established procedures to inspect tires, vehicles and equipment before and after service, and notes other needed services; makes recommendations to customer.
    • Documents work performed accurately and according to company policy.
    • Responds quickly to dispatch instructions, finds quickest route to the job, and gets there safely and ready to work, without unnecessary delay.
    • Provides highest level of customer satisfaction to establish long term customer relationships and enhance company reputation.
    • Operates company vehicles safely and according to company policies and procedures, and follows all federal, state, and local laws regarding vehicle operations and safety.
    • Inspects service truck daily, and keeps service truck and work areas clean, organized, and well maintained, and uses all company property, vehicles, facilities, tools or equipment properly; notifies service manager of need for repairs and maintenance, etc.
    • Performs other service-related duties such as wheel refurbishment & painting, tire foam fill, tire/casing receiving, moving and loading.
    • Performs other shop activities as assigned by the Service Manager or Center Manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Must complete and maintain TIA certification (and MSHA certification if needed).
    • Must understand and follow verbal and written directions. Must be able to communicate understanding.
    • Must be able to use all service equipment (tire irons and tools; lift gates; mini booms/cranes and controls; impact guns; repair tools & supplies; air hoses, connections and gauges; safety cages; and any other equipment necessary for the job or specified by the customer or service manager) properly.
    • Must possess skills to complete assigned paperwork and inventory controls as directed by supervisor.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle called upon to drive. Must be able to pass a background check and motor vehicle inquiry.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 100lbs plus repetitively.
    • Continuous lifting of air guns, tire bars etc.
    • Must be able to operate ½" to ¾” air gun to remove up to 16" Tire/Wheel assemblies that could weigh up to 106lbs. each
    • Working in warehouse will require lifting product in excess of 100lbs.
    • Must be able to cross-train to not only change tires, but work in the warehouse lifting/staking tires with the help of the forklift provided.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
