POSITION PURPOSE:
A versatile position at a nonprofit that wants to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Together we can restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world.

Reporting Relationships

• Reports to our Head of Nature Based Solutions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

• Collaborate with a global carbon team to manage risk assessment and compliance matters related to Carbon/Nature Based Solutions projects worldwide
• Lead all aspects related to identifying, analyzing, planning, monitoring, reporting and mitigating risks of all kinds
• Develop and manage a project risk framework, including regular monitoring and reporting for clients
• Conduct due diligence activities in relation to local and global partners
• Provide support by assuring appropriate safeguards are in place to avoid and mitigate risks on project development and implementation
• Establish a standard grievance mechanism to be shared with partners, and review their procedures accordingly
• Coordinate the work of compliance regarding rules and procedures, establishing appropriate systems and processes
• Relate to and support the clients with their due diligence requirements
• Assist with desk and field surveys to obtain appropriate information from partners
• Elaborate reports and evaluate third party ones related to legal and economic due diligence
• Serve as a trusted knowledge resource on risk assessment and compliance
  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Advanced degree in law, business administration, economics, accounting, and related areas
• Post-graduation courses on risk management, corporate responsibility and sustainability a plus
• 3 years working with risk management and compliance, with exposure to multi-stakeholder/cross-border projects
• Practical experience conducting corporate due diligence or working with compliance
• Familiarity and interest on corporate ESG and sustainability practices
• Analytical skills and proactive attitude to identify improvement opportunities
• Time management, attention to details and ability to meet strict deadlines, with high-quality deliveries
• Teamwork, good communication, and ability to work on a fast-paced multicultural environment is essential
• Fluent in English in mandatory, both written and oral. Proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish is a plus.
