The Risk Management Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     The Commercial Lines Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial lines department, with a focus on business development, new business acquisition, and renewal business retention. This role requires a strong background in the insurance industry, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to guide and mentor a team with a wide range of experience and knowledge.



    Position Summary
    As the Commercial Lines Manager, you will play a critical role in the growth and success of our commercial lines department. Your primary responsibilities will be to oversee and guide the commercial service team, mentoring and educating teammates with a wide range of experience and knowledge. The Commercial Lines Manager will be an advocate for implementation and usage of technology that improves efficiency or communication across the company. This position will also encompass new business development, nurturing new client relationships, and ensuring the retention of existing clients through the renewal process. This position demands a high level of expertise, a results-driven approach, and strong organizational skills.

    Department Oversight
    • Provide direction/oversight to all CL service team members, including situations where upper management or carrier leadership need to become involved.
    • Conduct weekly/monthly department meetings to cover key topics/issues.
    • Have regular 1-to-1 meetings with team members to assess workload and help with challenges.
    • Conduct regular audits on CL Team members using our Policies and Procedures as guidelines
    • Lead monthly Sales Leadership meeting with review on Bookloads per team member; key account renewals in next 120 days; and new business added
    • Work in tandem with Underwriting Manager on carrier relations and ongoing P&P issues
    • Work in tandem with CL Practice Leader on marketing and risk advisor development
    • Provide direction to Underwriting department on submission practices/placement
    • Provide backup account management when team members are out of office
