Risk Management Director - Healthcare develops and administers risk management programs. Creates and modifies policies to comply with safety legislation, JCAHO, HIPAA, and industry practices. Being a Risk Management Director - Healthcare coordinates and develops hospital-wide programs for quality patient care and risk-free services. Acts as the liaison to attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals. Additionally, Risk Management Director - Healthcare investigates any incidences that may result in an asset loss. Oversees insurance designed to protect the health system from loss. Collects information related to the claims and lawsuits made against the health system. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Risk Management Director - Healthcare typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. In addition, this hospital provides care across the spectrum, from emergency intervention to minor surgical procedures. The Risk and Compliance Director will join an organization with a rich culture and reputation in the community and state.
The Risk and Compliance Director will report directly to the CEO. Supported by all department directors and a committee of passionate compliance and risk focused nurses, this person will lead an outstanding and busy hospital in compliance and risk initiatives. The Risk and Compliance Director will work with the hospital staff, educators, and other leaders to develop new patient care initiatives and compliance efforts as they are needed.
The Risk and Compliance Director will be in charge of developing and implementing departmental goals and standards that align with the clinical objectives, goals and values of the hospital, as well as The Joint Commission. The Director will oversee the hospital’s insurance programs, including coordinating claims while serving as legal counsel, and acting as mediator in cases with providers, family members, staff, and patients. The Risk and Compliance Director will provide education to all staff on compliance and risk topics as well. Most importantly, the Risk and Compliance Director will be responsible for creating an environment that promotes safe, outstanding care, and encouraging growth throughout the hospital.
