    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Manager, Issues Management & IRM will lead the implementation, execution and maintenance of the Bank’s centralized Issues Management function, including but not limited to providing the governance and oversight to ensure identified issues receive appropriate remediation and corrective action.   This role reports to the Director, Risk Governance and Programs, and will work closely with leaders across all areas of MVB. Additionally, the Manager, Issues Management & IRM will serve a critical role in the Bank’s IRM initiatives through the incorporation of risk analysis, assessment, and governance, through the lens of issues management.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Lead the development, implementation, execution, and maintenance of MVB’s Issues Management function including but not limited to the development and implementation of the Bank’s system of record, and supporting governance documents (e.g., policies, governance, and standards).
    • Provide oversight and credible challenge to enterprise-wide risk issues.
    • Develop and execute reporting that serves to drive transparency into the type, urgency, frequency, and status of issues/exceptions.
    • Provide issue management review, remediation, and validation support.
    • Work with business line managers to develop a culture that fosters self-identification of issues.
    • Provide readiness assistance for audits and exams (both internal and external).
    • Forge effective engagement with key stakeholders on the status of identified issues.
    • Develop analytic and visual presentation strategies to ensure issue data is conveyed in meaningful and interpretive formats for all audience levels.
    • Develop and provide bank training on issue identification.
    • Assist issue owners in the identification and evaluation of issues, including identification of potential issues and opportunities for improvement.
    • Ensure effective remediation of findings and supervisory matters.
    • Establish and build strong effective working relationships with business partners across the enterprise, develops a full understanding of current and emerging legal and regulatory risks and provides guidance on how to mitigate risk.
    • Identify, explore, and implement new issues management approaches and data sources to mitigate existing and emerging risks.
    • Assist in the execution of IRM initiatives through:
      • Gap assessment
      • Risk analysis and assessment
      • Alignment of issues management to the overall IRM Risk Appetite, Policy, and Framework
      • Incorporation of issues management into overall risk awareness, assessment, and management

    EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

    • Previous experience in building and/or overseeing an issues management function.
    • Previous experience with or as a bank regulator.
    • The ability to work well independently with limited direct supervision.
    • Must possess business acumen and credibility to help business partners proactively identify issues.
    • 6 years of risk, audit, or regulatory experience in the operational risk discipline with the financial industry
    • Relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and building relationship networks.
    • Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.
    • Demonstrated analytical ability; asks insightful questions; Well versed in breaking down complex matters into core issues and root causes that can be more readily addressed.
    • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
    • Ability to analyze data and trends and prepare meaningful reports.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across the organization and with individuals having different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working toward a common goal.
    • Good oral / written communication skills. Excellent writing skills and business reporting; comfortable working with the business lines/various internal partners and communicates follow ups and or findings for assigned task/section.
    • Advanced level skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
