By joining our District 2 Right of Way Section as a Right-of-Way Agent I in Hopkins County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform research and prepare documented appraisals (value of property, land, structures and improvements) through the Appraisal Process and assist in negotiations with property owners.
Holders of the Right-of-Way Agent I position will complete tasks such as:
- Assist in gathering data for appraisals, with negotiations with property owners; Deliver checks to property owners. Assist with closing and release of mortgages and liens.
- Examine records and research market conditions & courthouse records.
- Assist relocation assistance agents by gathering information. Attend trainings and seminars.
- Assist in property management and completing required paperwork. Assist with applications for surplus and excess property.
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
- Negotiation skills with land and homeowners.
- Property acquisition process.
- Learn to prepare land appraisals.
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
- Appraisal research and document preparation.
Walking over rough and hilly terrain may be required. Work typically involves contact with the public.
