Rigger facilitates the movement and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and cargo. Sets up rigging, slings, pulleys, winches, dollies and ropes to safely maneuver loads. Being a Rigger coordinates moving activities with others using hand or other signals. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rigger may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.     A Rigger responsibilities include planning, laying out, assembling, repairing, and installing complex weight handling gear in addition to moving/positioning objects in both open and confined locations. Equipment that a Rigger uses includes chain falls, 15' J-Bars, tackle blocks, gallows frames and positioning fixtures.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Moves/position large, complex components (i.e. 23' propellers) into open and confined spaces using a crane or other rigging materials.
    • Estimating weights and centers of gravity prior to lifting to ensure safety during handling.
    • Follows established rigging practices and procedures independently and clear unusual problems with supervisor.

    Qualifications Required for the Position

    • High school education

    Security Clearance / Background Check required. Your candidacy is subject to approval and acceptance.
