Rig Operator is responsible for operation of the rig, crew, and equipment and for ensuring customer satisfaction with all services rendered. Ensures that all crew are at the rig and ready to work at scheduled time. Being a Rig Operator maintains productivity standards for all rig functions. Maintains a safe working environment and ensures compliance of applicable regulations and policies. Additionally, Rig Operator may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Rig Operator supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Rig Operator typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Our projects involve challenging soil conditions requiring settlement control installations prior to heavy civil construction in NC, VA, MD, DC, PA, WV, SC, NJ, and NY. We are seeking an experienced Drill Operator to help us install our solutions throughout our region.

    Like to be on the road, experiencing new places? Our crews travel within the northeast region. You travel in your own car to our job sites, staying in a single hotel room, two weeks at a time, with a weekend at home every other weekend, (arriving home Friday for dinner and returning Sunday night or Monday morning for a 6:30 a.m. start). For some, this is exciting and a great way to earn and save money. For others, obligations at home prevent this kind of travel. We prefer to hire within our project area along the East Coast.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    • Skillfully operate maintain, and clean rotary rig/drill rigs similar to Bauer, Soilmec, Watson, or Liebherr drill rigs with at least one year experience.
    • Assist in setting up the rig to conditions found as well as in moving it
    • Report rig maintenance and unanticipated field changes to the foreman and suggest possible solutions
    • Perform and document pre/post-shift inspections and report drilling activities
    • Comply with regulatory safety regulations, code requirements and company policies
    • Participate in safety meetings and documentation of equipment safety inspection audits

    NOTE: This position requires at least one year experience with rotary drill shaft rigs such as Bauer, Soilmec, Watson, or Liebherr in a ground improvement/foundation support environment.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
    • Thorough understanding of different drilling techniques.
    • Ability to listen, understand and follow instructions.
    • Excellent mechanical and communication skills.
    • Ability to work with a wide range of personalities.

    Requirements
    • Valid Driver's License (State ID card is NOT sufficient)
    • Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
    • Able to work long periods in all weather conditions.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

    Earning Potential: You earn travel time to each project, $40/day meal assistance and then travel time to get home two weeks later. Your hotel room is paid for and in addition to your hourly rate, you are working consistent overtime. Our rate of pay is generally between $27 and $32/hour depending on your experience. If you earn $29/hour.

    $1160/week - $29 x 40 hours
    $435/week - $43.50 x 10 hours overtime
    $145/week – based on 5 hours of travel time each week
    $240/week - $40/day per diem (assuming 6 nights away from home)
    Total: $102,960/year (this excludes any bonus, medical premium subsidies or retirement contributions you will earn from us)
