Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Revenue Cycle Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. You will function as a change agent to help establish common goals and create alliances across the hospital organization and physician specialty practices to optimize success. This is a high-visibility role and will include daily interaction with client site leaders and executive leadership team. It will also include direct and indirect accountability of internal teams performing the daily analytical activities and improvement initiatives to drive revenue cycle performance.

    Responsible for overseeing the overall internal team performance of Revenue Cycle Consulting to ensure all clients’ needs and expectations are met and maintained. Assisting the President of Revenue Cycle Coding Strategies (RCCS) in seeking out and exploring new business lines with existing and prospective clients in the healthcare industry as well as developing new consulting ideas and revenue streams for RCCS. Must have extensive knowledge in all aspects of the Revenue Cycle in both the facility and physician setting.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The Executive Director of Revenue Cycle Consulting is responsible for the development, planning, organization, and implementation of current and future strategies regarding (but not limited to) billing, improving revenue collections, posting payments, minimizing bad debt and managing the overall health of the Client’s receivables.
    • This is a high-visibility role and will include daily interaction with site leaders and executive leadership team. Interface with client executives and key customer contact points to report-out on performance and address concerns on a regular basis while partnering with Executive level client counterparts to deliver key operational/revenue cycle results. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide exceptional customer service.
    • Translate your industry expertise into strategic vision and generate client buy-in while driving your team to perform at a high level with superior outcomes.
    • Function as a change agent to help establish common goals and create alliances across outpatient and hospital organizations to optimize success.
    • Lead performance improvement efforts by demonstrating an ability to personally identify and resolve complex revenue cycle challenges.
    • Manage and prioritize multiple client projects, including monitoring project time budgets/forecasting and consistently meeting or exceeding agreed-upon deadlines. Providing a best-in-class experience for our clients.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and internal teams on revenue cycle performance and recommendations. Work products will include financial analyses, process performance report creation, model and tool development, process flows, group meeting facilitation, and client relationship development.
    • Direct and indirect accountability of teams performing the daily analytical activities and improvement initiatives to drive revenue cycle performance.
    • Ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and adhere to project timelines.
    • Work closely with project managers to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.
    • Manages, coordinates & provides services to potential and current clients and seek out business opportunities for the delivery of revenue cycle consulting
    • Advise clients on industry best practices and provide recommendations for process improvements.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve revenue cycle issues
    • Train and mentor internal consultants on revenue cycle management best practices
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new revenue cycle services and solutions
    • Develop and maintain master training materials for revenue cycle functions for accuracy and consistency with internal and external policies
    • Collaborates closely with directors and management of RCCS and affiliated companies
    • Works with finance/accounting to conduct financial planning and analysis for the revenue cycle division and provides input related to companywide goals
    • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations and advise clients on potential impacts. Monitors government regulations & programs and presents information to the company and clients
    • Attends trade shows for marketing, vendor relations and potential new business opportunities
    • Works with the marketing department to assist with updating websites, brochures, and all marketing materials to provide informative, appealing information. Collaborate with sales teams to identify potential revenue cycle consulting opportunities with new and existing clients
    • Coordinates with HR and Leadership to recruit qualified candidates for open positions. Monitor departmental trends to assess future staffing needs.
    • Ensures a strong, positive relationship between all company divisions
    • Ensures compliance with RCCS Policies and Procedures to maximize efficiency. Ensures compliance with appropriate industry regulations and State and Federal Regulations
    • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business or other related field (preferred).
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Revenue Cycle (Advanced): Knowledge of the financial process to track patient care from registration and scheduling to the final payment of a balance. Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, claims processing, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance requirements such as HIPAA and healthcare regulations
    • To flourish in this role, you will need to possess strong change management skills and have the ability to drive overall performance improvement initiatives allowing Clients to invest in their mission
    • Strong managerial competencies in the areas of leadership and team development
    • An effective communicator with strong oral and written skills
    • Highly accountable and results oriented, burning desire to get things done and a sense of urgency, resourceful with excellent planning skills
    • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment in discussing and validating client workflows, knowledge transfer sessions, and addressing issues and challenges
    • Skilled in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision‐making to achieve business unit objectives.
    • Knowledge of CPT‐4, ICD‐10‐CM and HCPCS coding.
    • Epic/Cerner knowledge preferred
    • Revenue Cycle Billing systems knowledge required
