Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Position Summary:
Responsible for managing a team of revenue cycle IT staff and working with McLaren IT partners. The Director is responsible for translating the mission, strategic goals, and program priorities of McLaren Health Care into department operations. The Director will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of information systems that directly support revenue cycle departments. The Director manages the analysis, selection, design, implementation, and support of revenue cycle information systems solutions to manage and improve revenue cycle operations.
· Plans, prioritizes, summarizes, directs, and supervises staff, users and vendors in revenue cycle systems development and support functions with an emphasis on complete, accurate, compliant, and secure systems.
· Provides functional and technical leadership for the implementation and support of software applications (internally or vendor developed), enhancements, and modifications.
· Prepares and recommends short- and long-term goals and objectives for the system development and support functions and in support of the overall IT strategy.
· Provides insight and the appropriate level of reporting to various leaders and partners within McLaren Health Care.
· Monitors system issues and performance and when necessary, escalates issues to the appropriate stakeholders and supports incident and problem management efforts.
· Supervises and conducts special analyses, such as requirements analysis, system feasibility studies, systems selection, and process improvement projects.
· Insures the development of functionally accurate, efficient, well-tested, and secure program code, utilities, and tools.
· Ensures the development of test areas, system test data, and testing methods prior to implementation of new or revised systems and is accountable for post-implementation reviews.
· Ensures that limitations and constraints (cost, time volumes, benefits, and risks) and controls (security, audit, operational) are considered, documented, and reported to the VP of IT Applications.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor's degree required in a related field from an accredited college or university.
· Revenue cycle background as an analyst or manager.
· Ten years information systems leadership experience as a manager or director in a large hospital, academic medical center, or consulting in a healthcare setting.
· Five years of experience with the Cerner Millennium Revenue Cycle solutions.
· Ten years of both technical and strategic experience in either Revenue Cycle or IT roles in healthcare environments (preferably in integrated healthcare systems)
· Master’s degree in business, or related field
· Advanced revenue cycle system experience
· Certification in Project Management and prior project management experience in revenue cycle information systems
