Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Revenue Cycle Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Revenue Cycle Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Responsible for accurately scheduling diagnostic procedures. Conducts physician office/patient interviews, and explains hospital procedure guidelines and policies. Coordinates with clinical departments on schedule modifications.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include the following. Others may be assigned.

    • Responsible for obtaining complete and accurate clinical, demographic and financial information during the scheduling process. Enters data in scheduling system or other applications. Provides the customer with prep and other appointment instructions.
    • Follows guidelines for special requests/Stat/schedule modification procedures and coordinates communications with clinical areas to accommodate the customers’ requests.
    • Answers telephone calls according to designated scripting for the scheduling process. Maintains positive customer service at all times, referring unresolved issues to appropriate supervisor.
    • Notifies customer of physician order, pre-authorization and other financial clearance requirements.
    • Performs functions of other PASU functions or registration when requested.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

    • Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of software/system/equipment/PCs.
    • Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment preferred
    • Advance Customer service skills and experience
    • Ability to work in a call center environment
    • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications
    • Course in Medical Terminology preferred
    • High achievement in productivity.
    • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with both internal and external Clients that lead to more effective communication and a higher level of productivity and accuracy.
    • Identifies opportunities to improve patient relations and shorten the time it takes to handle scheduling processes.
    • This position requires high-level problem solving and analytical skills, technical accuracy, excellent communication skills and the highest ethical standards.

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 1-4 year administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area.
    • 2 years in Patient Access/Scheduling preferred.
    • Some college coursework is preferred
