Revenue Cycle Director directs and oversees the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of an organization's revenue cycle activities to optimize the patient financial interaction along the care continuum. Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding admissions, pricing, billing, third party payer relationships, compliance, collections, and other financial analyses to ensure that clinical revenue cycle is effective and properly utilized. Being a Revenue Cycle Director tracks numerous metrics related to the patient engagement cycle including record coding error rates and billing turnaround times to develop sound revenue cycle analysis and reporting. Manages relations with payers and providers to generate high reimbursement rates and a low level of denials. Additionally, Revenue Cycle Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Revenue Cycle Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     The Director of Revenue Cycle Management will lead revenue cycle strategy and implement tactics for network wide best practices spanning the entire revenue cycle. The Director will analyze and improve processes and results while developing teams and managing outsourced partners.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Provides overall oversight for all revenue cycle functions for the enterprise.
    • Reviews, designs, and implements processes surrounding patient registration, provider credentialing, insurance plan participation and reimbursement, preauthorization, billing, and coding compliance, as well as collection of patient accounts and management of bad debt.
    • Develops, monitors, and assesses business metrics related to the patient engagement cycle. Optimizes processes based on business metrics to improve efficiencies and revenue and accelerate and maximize collections while minimizing costs.
    • Manage a team of Regional RCM Managers; inclusive of hiring, training, providing regular feedback, performance reviews, and ongoing development.
    • Responsible for managing the relationship with outsourced partners and all payor contracts.
    • Monitor cash collections, posting, denial processing, and recovery to identify trends and opportunities to bill compliantly and maximize reimbursement.
    • Periodic review of commercial and government payer medical policy guidelines to identify changes in compliant billing practices required.
    • Address escalated reimbursement issues while partnering with internal and external parties to achieve optimal insurance participation and reimbursement.
    • Drives implementation and support of recommended action plans and technology solutions that have clear accountability with key performance measures

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

    • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive revenue cycle leadership roles in fast-paced multi-unit healthcare organization.
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business; preferred
    • Ability to lead at both a strategic and tactical level with deep analytical skills.
    • Strong knowledge of healthcare insurance billing and collections with coding and terminology, as well as an overall understanding of managed care products (HMO, PPO, etc.).
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with accounting, operations, and medical leadership teams to maximize results.
    • Ability to articulate complex ideas in writing and verbally to various audiences.
    • Must be willing to travel to EVP clinics and vendor sites as needed.
