Revenue Cycle Data Analyst

Position Summary
Responsible for optimizing revenue cycle systems and workflow processes of the department. Analyzes denials and edits to implement system changes in the appropriate departments to prevent denials. Supports Revenue Cycle, Finance, Administration, and other leadership throughout the health system by providing accurate, timely, and objective analysis in all projects assigned related to ongoing and special financial and workflow analysis. Provides advanced analytical support through extensive internal contact with members of IT, Financial Services, Contracting and Reimbursement and all levels of leadership throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Maintains understanding of the organization's performance expectations and tracks key performance indicators for all revenue cycle departments
Provides guidance for best practice implementation, using methodologies and other process improvement tools to identify breakthrough strategies across institutional and functional boundaries that result in significant and documented improvement in healthcare and service delivery
Serves as a liaison between IT, leadership and operational users to ensure the optimum use of the software and workflows, providing support for initiatives throughout the health system
Develops and implements tools to enable the cash realization goals set for the revenue cycle
Extracts data reports on a regular basis to monitor performance for all revenue cycle departments
Collaborates with revenue cycle team and vendors to prepare performance metrics and analysis, identify performance improvement opportunities, and support the implementation of solutions to enhance performance
Works with operational users to define and articulate needs, communicates the requirements to IT department via ticketing system
Performs complex research and financial projects analysis; distributes findings throughout the organization, including executives, directors, managers, and frontline staff as applicable
Works with internal and external resources and support the ongoing operation of internal and vendor applications and tools
Meets with revenue cycle leaders on an ongoing basis to ensure reports are helpful, accurate, and adjusts accordingly
Applies critical analysis to interpret data and uses that analysis to propose potential solutions to identified trends
Reviews billing workflows and works with the appropriate teams to adjust system to catch errors and or omissions
Reviews reports to pinpoint root causes for claim edits and denials across all departments and works with leaders to implement resolution
Assists in the development and preparation of presentations for Administration and other leadership and ensures the accuracy of their contents
Manages claims software; balances daily transmissions, analyzes claims reports, etc.
Performs ongoing training and support of revenue cycle division workflows and workflow development
Performs duties in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, and Kootenai Health policies and procedures governing revenue cycle compliant processes
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum 5 years' experience in revenue cycle or analyst role required
Advanced understanding of the standard tools, workflow processes, and/or procedures and concepts used in the development and deployment of application software necessary to run the healthcare systems business, clinical or financial systems
Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills required
Proven experience working with regulatory requirements for all payer types
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a confidential and highly responsible manner
Excellent computer skills, including experience with EHR systems
