Retail Store Manager - Museum plans and directs the day-to-day operations of a retail store within a museum. Develops strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. Being a Retail Store Manager - Museum ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. Ensures all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability. Additionally, Retail Store Manager - Museum forecasts staffing needs and develops a recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas. May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Lead and directs the work of others. Typically reports to Retail Store Manager, Sr. The Retail Store Manager - Museum supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.     Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

    Departmental Overview: The retail department includes 3 independent retail locations and an art gallery within the museum building, with a total of 8,800 square feet of selling space. E-commerce, wholesale and product development are key of the business. The department generates revenue through the sales of goods that provides vital operating revenue for the museum.


    Job Overview: Sales Associates will assist visitors and customers in our Circa/Museum Stores located inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Associates will greet visitors, answer questions regarding products offered for sale in the stores.


    Specific Job Duties:

    • Establish a working relationship with all store staff and fellow Museum staff to support company initiatives and objectives.
    • Perform daily activities assigned by store management.
    • Uphold our superior level of customer service.
    • Bring positive recognition to CMHOF’s brand through professionalism, enthusiastic attitude and effective communication.
    • Actively greet and assist customers and thank them for visiting.
    • Complete sales transactions.
    • Represent CMHOF’s core values, emphasizing a positive work environment that is fun and unique.
    • Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor, repetitive bending, prolong standing, twisting, stooping, squatting.
    • Maintain a clean, organized store.
    • Restock store product with direction from store management.
    • Pricing product when necessary.
    • Ability to perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by Store Management without hesitation.
    • Learn and disseminate information about Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibits and programs.


    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong customer service skills
    • Outgoing and friendly personality
    • Knowledge of country music a plus
    • Knowledge of musical instruments (Especially guitars) a plus

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and some holidays
    • Standing required for almost entire work shift
    • Bend, lift, open, and move product up to 50 pounds as needed
    • Must pass a background check
