Available Position: Design Director

Office Location: Boston Massachusetts (not a remote position)

Responsibilities:

This position requires an ability to manage a busy Design Team from day-to-day functions to seeing a project through from start to finish. This will include assisting in documentation from existing conditions through to completion of construction level drawings, preparation of vision boards, and working collaboratively with our production team to assemble estimated construction costs in the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documentation phases (including construction administration.) The Design Director will oversee all production in the Design team, attend internal/external meetings, perform quality control for various size projects, manage Design Team members at various levels and create a collaborative environment within Design Team and beyond. Candidate must be able to lead a team of designers to create creative and inspiring spaces.

Position will require the use of the following software:

• AutoCAD
• Revit
• Bluebeam Revu
• SketchUp
• Gather It 
• Adobe InDesign / Acrobat
• Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook)

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Registered Architect with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• Minimum 5 years working experience in Residential Design Environment.
• Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in management of a design team.
• Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.

Required Skills: 

• Experienced and managed up to 10 people team working on various projects at various stages.
• Willingness to direct/assist designers and come up with great solutions.
• Experienced working collaboratively with other design and construction professionals.
• Experienced monitoring projects varying in size and complexity including schedule, quality, and budgets.
• Comfortable interacting with clients and maintain client communication to ensure their satisfaction.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, workflow, and procedures.
• Proficient in English language (speaking, writing, and reading) and excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
• Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.
• Working knowledge of local zoning and building codes.
• Working experience/knowledge in construction/carpentry is a plus. 
• Maintaining awareness of industry trends, educating/developing design staff and modifying practices.
• Residential design award is a plus. 
• Open to learning and participating with company management system and policies.
• Willingness to contribute to a company's business development goals.
