    The Retail Branch Manager recognizes and anticipates the needs of the branch to meet budget goals and ensures that established policies and procedures are followed. He or she actively coaches, leads and motivates employees, directing them to effectively identify the financial needs of our customers. The Retail Branch Manager leads his/her team through consistent execution to achieve and exceed branch goals. He or she is responsible for business development and marketing of existing and prospective customers. The Retail Branch Manager builds meaningful relationships with the people they serve, learning customers’ goals and needs, and making appropriate D.L. Evans Bank product and service recommendations. He or she serves internal and external customers and prospective customers promptly and professionally. The Retial Branch Manager assists Commercial Lending personnel as needed.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred
    • At least three years of experience in banking as a retail operations supervisor or manager required
    • Understanding of Bank policies and procedures, regulations, and documents relating to retail operations as well as consumer lending documentation, collection programs, and determination of credit worthiness are required
    • Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
    • Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development
    • Strong interviewing skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Able to use financial calculators and related computer applications and business machines


    Responsibilities

    • Effectively supervises branch staff, ensuring optimal performance
    • Communicates and reiterates D.L. Evans Bank vision and values with branch team members
    • Responsible ensure proper staffing levels in the branch. Duties include recruiting/identifying talent, interviewing and selecting the branch team
    • Creates an engaging environment for customers and employees
    • Provides leadership through effective objective setting, coaching, mentoring and communication
    • Directly supervises branch retail sales and operations personnel. Ensures that high quality work and efficiency in operations are maintained
    • Conducts regular meetings with personnel to inform and train. Discusses areas needing improvement and changes in procedure
    • Ensures that personnel are well trained in all phases of their respective jobs. Assures that assigned monthly product knowledge and security training is conducted
    • Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks. Ensures that personnel are effective and optimally used. Determines appropriate staffing levels for proper utilization of human resources
    • Tracks individual progress and conducts performance appraisals on each employee at least annually. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Recommends promotions for employees as appropriate
    • Approves all sick leave, vacation, overtime, and timecards for each branch employee. Keeps accurate payroll and attendance records
    • Assumes responsibility for the business development activities, promoting branch growth and profitability
    • Actively solicits new business through outside marketing efforts and sales calls
    • Responsible for meeting sales volume and/or profitability goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls, number of new client relationships established, deposit growth, etc.
    • Researches and develops potential customer lists
    • Develops internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and participation in seminars and professional groups (CPA’s, attorneys)
    • Ensures that individual and branch goals for cross-sell activities are met or exceeded. Serves as a mentor and provides sales coaching to employees as needed
    • Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional completion of consumer and small business loan functions
    • Seeks new loan opportunities, interviews, takes applications, and processes documentation for consumer loan requests
    • Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from customers
    • Enters information into the internal consumer and small business lending approval system. Calculates terms and finance charges, computes debt ratios and verifies employment and income. Assures sufficient collateral values
    • Communicates loan decisions to customers
    • Completes consumer and small business lending functions in accordance with established bank policies and legal requirements
    • Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient performance of branch operations
    • Provide guidance and direction to branch staff positions to ensure compliance of regulatory, security and internal controls, which includes timely completion of all branch operations tasks
    • Ensure satisfactory (or better) branch audits
    • Supervises work scheduling and workflow of daily routine operations
    • Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established bank policies and with legal and regulatory requirements
    • Supervises and assists with customer service functions. Cross sells bank services
    • Serves in the paying and receiving and new accounts areas as needed and when staffing levels are low
    • Executes wire transfers of funds
    • Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds
    • Review daily, monthly, quarterly and annual branch reports as needed or required
    • Implements changes to established policies and procedures within the branch
    • Ensures branch security. Ensures that the building is opened and closed in accordance with set hours and tests security equipment quarterly
    • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with customers
    • Ensures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolved. Handles customer complaints
    • Ensures that customers are informed of bank services and policies. Counsels customers regarding their financial needs and services requested
    • Ensures that the Bank's quality reputation is maintained and projected
    • Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of branch functions
    • Managers and oversees branch expenses and pursues cost-saving measures
    • Responsible for the total branch performance/profitability including, but not limited to, budgeting and income generation. Continually seeks ways to improve branch operations and productivity and meet established goals
    • Ensures that adequate supplies, forms, and equipment are available for operations personnel
    • Institutes prudent safety measures. Ensures that proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, grounds, work areas, desks, and equipment is carried out, including snow and ice removal.
    • Keeps management informed of branch activities, progress toward established objectives, and of any significant problems. Requests assistance when necessary
    • Ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with established bank policies and with legal and regulatory requirements
