Respiratory Care Manager plans and implements the overall respiratory care policies, procedures, and services. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations. Being a Respiratory Care Manager directs the activities of the respiratory therapy section. Supervises technical staff and students. Additionally, Respiratory Care Manager prepares departmental budgets and reports. Evaluates new equipment and procedures. Typically requires RRT registration. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Respiratory Care Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. EDUCATION
Graduate of CoARC approved Respiratory Care college degree with Masters degree in Health Related Field.
EXPERIENCE
Five (5) or more years experience in clinical practice. Two to three years of demonstrated performance in leadership/supervision/management required.
LICENSURE
Licensed in the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Therapist. Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care required.

Demonstrated ability to direct a large diverse workforce in a 24-hour/7 day per week environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; in-depth knowledge of clinical practice; ability to manage multiple priorities; strong leadership skills. Knowledge of computer-based information systems; knowledge of both salary and nonsalary budget management. Knowledge of quality improvement and the ability to implement improvement projects.
