Residential Care Medical Director plans and directs all aspects of clinical care at an assisted living or skilled nursing facility. Ensures that clinical programs operate in compliance with all applicable regulations. Being a Residential Care Medical Director provides patient consultations as needed and manages relationships between staff and attending physicians. Advises non-medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Additionally, Residential Care Medical Director requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a state license to practice medicine. Typically reports to top management. The Residential Care Medical Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • JOB SUMMARY
    The Director of Nursing is responsible for all clinical functions of the department. Reports directly to the Chief Clinics Officer. This leader will have demonstrable leadership, management, interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. The functions of this leader include financial management of the department, including budget development and ongoing evaluation; management of human resources; responsibilities and duties as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; leadership as a mentor for staff members; strategic planning; day-to-day operations; procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment, including purchasing capital equipment; contract maintenance; maintaining and developing policies and procedures; identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives and evaluation effectiveness; maintaining departmental regulatory compliance. This role participates or delegates appropriate participation in all performance improvement teams, medical staff committees, and work teams for their clinical group. This leader will demonstrate a code of conduct consistent with Gritman’s mission, vision and values, and ethical business practice policies and act as a role model for all other staff members.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS
    Minimum Education
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent ADN plus transferable experience.
    Master's Degree in healthcare or MBA preferred.
    Ongoing professional development courses in healthcare management are expected.

    Minimum Work Experience
    Registered nurse with clinical and management experience.
    Minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
    Minimum of 3 years of prior leadership experience.
    Must have documented competence in their area of practice.
    Maintain the same required experience, education, competency assessment, and credentials as a department staff nurse.
    Will complete and maintain all hospital-wide and department director core and annual competency assessments.

    Required Skills
    Strong nursing clinical skills consistent with outpatient medical clinics are necessary.
    Highly developed leadership skills necessary to work effectively with various constituents.
    Experience with current competence with typical office software and electronic health records.

    Required Licenses
    Registered Nursing License in Idaho or a compact state
    Current Basic Life Support

    FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
    Physical Demands
    A fast paced medical office environment that requires the ability to multi-task and prioritize as situations demand. Some lifting (< 25 lbs.), reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, and standing, as normally found in an office environment. Ability to use computer keyboard and telephones (fine motor skills), read small print, read computer screens, hear and see, and speak adequately for interactions with patients, visitors, and staff. May often stand for extended periods of time and will often sit for extended periods as would normally occur in the office/clinic setting.

    Environmental Conditions
    Mostly indoors in an office/clinic setting. Will be exposed to seasonal elements when traveling and when entering and exiting buildings. Some exposure to germs and viruses, varying and unpredictable situations, potentially angry and violent patients, emergencies, and family crisis situations. The work environment is fast paced, requiring the ability to multitask.

    Daily Operations of Clinics
    Facilitates the daily clinical and medical operations of assigned clinics, including adequate staffing, appropriate training, financial stewardship, human resource management, provider relations, and customer satisfaction.

    Financial Stewardship
    Responsible for the overall financial performance and compliance of clinic operations.
    Monitors the performance of staff and trains accordingly.
    Ensures compliance with all regulatory and licensing agencies.

    Professional Standards
    Ensures that the highest standards of practice among clinical/nursing staff and providers are monitored and addressed as needed. Ensures that all employees are working within their defined scope of practice.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Daily Clinic Operations
    Ensures that each clinic has the appropriate number of trained clinical/nursing staff to ensure clinic operations as scheduled. Provides leadership to meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers - patients, families, providers, visitors, members of the community, and fellow staff members. Ensures that providers are scheduled to meet the needs of our clinics and their patients. Current standards of care, evidence-based practice, and best industry practices must be maintained and updated.

    Human Resource Management
    Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and coaching/counseling clinical/nursing staff for clinics. Responsible for employee relations as well as continuous performance improvement.

    Financial Management
    Responsible for developing annual operating and capital budgets for the clinics. Ensures that the chargemaster for clinics is maintained and updated appropriately. Has responsibility for clinics' financial performance.

    Provider Relations
    This position is responsible for proactively anticipating and meeting the needs of providers, as well as responding promptly and effectively to provider concerns. Ensures that workflow through the clinics maximizes provider efficiency.

    Training and Development
    Responsible for developing and implementing standardized clinic programs, policies, and procedures, addressing the needs of those we serve. Directs implementation of needs-based leadership and staff education programs for individuals and the group. Utilizes a variety of educational resources available within and outside of the organization. Provides direction and guidance to the onboarding of new employees.

    Supply Chain
    Collaborates with various departments and vendors to ensure that supplies and equipment are maintained and obtained in a cost-effective manner. Responsible for the development of annual operating and capital budgets in partnership with Director of Clinic Operations.

    Continuous Improvement
    Identifies and implements a variety of performance enhancement strategies, facilitating continuous quality improvement in clinic operations. Tracks and trends metrics pertinent to clinic operations. In collaboration with others, is responsible for clinic strategic planning and best practice implementation.

    Compliance
    Supports Gritman compliance, safety, and risk initiatives. Ensures compliance with all state agencies, the Joint Commission, CMS, the Department. of Health, and all other regulatory bodies. Ensures that all clinic practices are appropriate for clinic and rural health operations.

    Code of Conduct
    Demonstrates a code of conduct consistent with Gritman's Mission, Vision, and Values. Acts as a role model of the Gritman Way, demonstrating a positive can-do attitude in all settings. This leader's professionalism must be beyond reproach.

    Marketing
    Collaborates with the Gritman Marketing and Public Relations Department to establish appropriate clinic marketing plans and advertising campaigns.

    Reporting
    Tracks and trends metrics, allowing for the analysis and reporting of fiscal and quality data and continuous performance improvement.
