Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Administer medications and perform basic medical tasks under the supervision of a nurse.
- Implement individualized care plans and document progress and observations.
- Support individuals in participating in community activities and social interactions.
- Promote independence and personal growth by teaching life skills and encouraging self-advocacy.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for individuals.
- Follow all resident rights guidelines and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in patient care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- First aid and CPR certification is required.
- Knowledge of nursing home or assisted living procedures is a plus.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing person-centered care.
