The Facility Van Transport Driver is expected to perform duties in compliance with state and federal regulations and facility policies. The Facility Van Transport Driver is under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing

• Meet the requirements to be an insured driver under Facility’s auto insurance policy

• Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.

• Employee/Associate may not work under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any legal drug or medication that could adversely impact the employee/associate’s ability to perform the position

• Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.

• Have valid CPR certification per state guidelines

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily.

· Ensure that the resident is in proper alignment in the wheelchair prior to transport

· Demonstrate the ability to safely transport the resident in a wheelchair to the van.

· Demonstrate the ability to safely utilize the lift on the van to transport resident into the van.

· Demonstrate the ability to properly secure the resident wheelchair to the floor of the van as well as properly securing the resident in the wheelchair.

· Demonstrate the ability to safely secure those residents who do not utilize a wheelchair, in the seats of the van.

· Demonstrate how to safely assist resident off the van once the destination has been reached.

· Understand protocol to follow during an emergent or unusual situation.
