    Summary/objective

    Seeking an engineer with a desire to work in a hands-on environment designing and manufacturing construction equipment. Candidate will receive training in industry-related matters, but certain basic engineering and drafting skills are expected. Room for individual growth in an exciting industry at a growing company.

    Essential functions

    • Design construction equipment - either from the ground-up or based on similar reference projects
    • Perform structural calculations to select proper beam, truss, and other structural elements
    • Perform mechanical energy calculations to select horsepower requirements for bulk material handling equipment (primarily belt conveyors)
    • Work with manufacturing, inventory, and sales teams to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency
    • Produce 3D models and shop drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
    • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
    • Analyze design or requirements information for mechanical equipment or systems.
    • Confer with technical personnel to prepare designs or operational plans.

    • Work with manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability of equipment
    • Designing, Drafting, and Providing Engineering support for construction equipment manufacturing, service, and sales

    Supervisory responsibilities

    None.

    Work environment

    Work in a small team (3-5) of designers and engineers on site and a larger team (6-8) throughout the Western United States. Work frequently with fabricators and welders, and work environment will include daily exposure to large equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and fabrication equipment.

    Physical demands

    The Employee will frequently: stand, walk short distances, sit at a workstation

    The Employee will occasionally: Climb or balance, lift up to 25 lbs

    Travel required

    None. Occasional travel may be possible depending on desire and experience.

    Required education and experience

    • 4-year Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred, experience in structural engineering design is required.
    • Some real-world experience with manufacturing and/or drafting required. Relevant school experience is acceptable.

    Preferred education and experience

    Experience in crushing, screening, washing, bulk material handling, etc. is preferred. Preference will be given to experience or education in structural design, fabrication, welding, or construction. Experience in Autodesk Inventor is preferred, but experience in Solidworks, PTC, or other 3D programs is also acceptable.

    Knowledge in the following areas is also a plus:

    • Design/Drafting in 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Autodesk Inventor)
    • Autodesk Vault
    • AggFlow DM
    • Belt Analyst
    • Microsoft Office
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Mathematics- Basic geometry and Trigonometry
    • English Language

    Candidates for this position should be able to pass a pre-employment drug test upon receiving a job offer. All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will have to complete an I-9 upon hire.
