Research and Development Supervisor supervises activities in the research and development department. Oversees personnel who utilize established mathematical and scientific techniques to compile and analyze data and write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Being a Research and Development Supervisor ensures proper procedure, and helps devise new development techniques. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Additionally, Research and Development Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. As a Manufacturing Supervisor supporting Manufacturing Technical Operations, you will be trusted to lead or assist with leading various production activities (e.g., assembly, material forming/shaping, processing, treating, or packaging, etc.) at Huntington, WV. In this role, a typical day will include: Provide front-line supervision, leadership, and work direction to production technicians, including time and attendance, performance management, training oversite, and development Operate following established policies and procedures to meet production commitments within Alcon’s standards (production, quality, cost, conduct, and safety) Troubleshoot problems regarding product quality and equipment Provides direction, correction, and corrective action as needed Lead multiple priorities and conflicts, and effectively hold others accountable for results in a diverse workforce Lead and implement continuous improvement processes within the manufacturing area by applying industry-known lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma, GEMBA, Kaizen, etc.) Encourage an environment of trust and respect for all associates Ensure fair and consistent treatment of all associates, according to company policies & procedures, as well as employment law Coordinate with other departments to accomplish objectives Monitor performance, identify variances, and initiate corrective actions to meet business goals Ensure associates have the tools and equipment needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively Track, evaluate, and report, on key indicators, as well as corrective and preventive actions WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 10 yrs.; Assoc. 16yrs; M.S. 0 yrs.)
