Job Summary:
The Operations Technician serves as a member of the Flight Test Operations Team at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), supporting at-sea testing of the US Navy's Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) D5 Life Extension (D5LE) program. The candidate will provide hands-on support in the assembly, testing, and operation of electrical and mechanical systems; working under general supervision of a senior technician in a team environment, often from remote, shipboard locations, while using and applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Work closely with the engineering staff in developing assembly and testing procedures and instructions, performing testing and completion of Certificates of Conformance (COCs), submitting and addressing Quality Notices and Root Cause Analysis (RCAs), and implementing Trident's quality program to ensure continuous improvement across Trident's operations and maintenance program. Participate in quality assurance operational objectives by implementing production, productivity, quality, safety, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing changes associated with Trident Research’s Quality Management System.
Responsibilities:
· Aid in the operational test and preventative and corrective maintenance of system level, subsystem level (electrical/power and mechanical), and unit level components.
· Deploy worldwide in support of Flight Test Instrumentation operations. Would require travel at least 1 or 2 times a year for about a month at a time.
· Assist in the writing, reviewing and editing technical documentation and procedures.
· Develop and maintain long and short-range training schedules in support of mission, contractual and T9001 requirements.
· Assist in establishing effective and measurable training goals with 100% percent mission success as the primary objective.
· Assist in creating, revising, and edit technical documentation to include technical publications, technical manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and work packages.
· Diagnose problems in malfunctioning Flight Test Instrumentation
Qualifications
· Must understand electrical and mechanical assembly
· Must be able to communicate clearly and apply methods for isolating and repairing electronic components.
· Must be able to work with all necessary hand tools (cordless drills, torque wrenches, pressure and vacuum systems, etc.)
· Must be able to work with necessary test equipment (digital multimeter, benchtop power supplies, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, etc.)
· Must understand how to properly handle and store ESD electronic components and devices.
· Must demonstrate familiarity with ISO 9001 or T9001B standards
· Must demonstrate familiarity with incoming, receiving, test, and inspection activities
· Must be able to obtain government security clearance.
· Must be physically fit for at-sea service.
Requirements
· Educational and Experience Requirements Include: Associate’s technical degree or 60 semester hours of course work towards a BS in a recognized engineering, scientific, or technical discipline from an accredited college or university or 60 hours in formal military school training or like program in an engineering or technical discipline or five (5) or more years of experience serving as an electromechanical technician for complex and technically challenging instrumentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to engage with junior staff to improve overall team performance and capabilities.
· Clearance Requirements: This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screening.
· Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (50 lbs), straight pushing and pulling, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers and both hands, walking and standing, repeated bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling (use of both legs and arms), operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. In addition, have both eyes with depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors and have satisfactory hearing (aid permitted). Occasionally exposed to disagreeable conditions. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends. Required to be cleared for deployment on US Navy vessels.
