HybridThe RTRC Strategic Technologies and Partnership Office is looking to fill a Business Development Manager (BDM) position. The Business Development Manager will cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with: (i) relevant program managers at US Government (USG) agencies; and, (ii) pertinent academic and industry organizations that strengthen RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) offerings to USG customers. The BDM will also have a deep, insightful understanding of Congressional and USG agency budget and priorities and can identify funding opportunities for RTRC.
The BDM will develop CRAD capturing strategies, identify potential USG customers and create marketing opportunities for RTRC technology concepts and capabilities that serve USG customer need. The BDM will coordinate interaction with USG agencies within RTRC and with RTX Business Units, facilitate in-depth discussions and partnerships with suitable partners and proposal team members, and guide proposal teams on campaign deliverables. They will be responsible for multiple external customers (5-10 USG agencies) and $15-20 million annual Customer Research and Development (CRAD) bookings.
Requirements:
Proven track record in business development and CRAD capture
Work experience at US Department of Defense (DoD) or US Defense industry, developing new technologies.
Broad science and engineering background. Ability to understand latest R&D discovery and connect pioneer solutions to customer challenges.
Capable of understanding both RTX technology priorities and USG agency priorities and identifying alignments with customer needs.
Extensive connection with the broad technical community. Aware of key players and leading research entities that are relevant to RTRC’s major research areas.
Ability to work effectively with technical staff members from all disciplines in concept formulation and marketing, balance multiple tasks, and coordinate with multiple business functions on proposal preparation and submissions.
Ability to negotiates and compromises to influence internal and external parties to accept concepts and approaches.
Ability to communicate with senior executive leadership both internally and externally.
Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Willingness to travel frequently to engage USG customers is a must.
An Advanced Degree in Engineering or relevant fields and minimum 10 years work experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred:
Prior working experience at US Department of Defense, specifically working experience managing R&D programs.
Hold a SECRET or TOP SECRET/SCI clearance.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
