Research and Development Supervisor jobs in Ann Arbor, MI

PIDC is looking for a highly motivated, Research and Development Scientist.  The person hired for position will be responsible for developing new and innovative materials for one of PIDC’s Business Units (Catalysis, Industrial Materials, or Energy Storage Materials). Candidates needs to be proficient in developing mass production viable material processes and hands-on in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• R&D Materials Development 
  • Creation and synthesis of new materials, formulations, and processes for the Business Unit
  • Including Intellectual Property creation
  • Transfer of developed material processes to PIDC manufacturing sites for production scale-up/introduction
• Analytical/Applications 
  • Characterize and evaluate materials via a variety of analytical methods
• Collaboration with customers and other PIDC R&D Groups
• Liaison with Universities, National Laboratories and customers on joint research programs, projects, and/or grants.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, drive, energy level, and problem-solving abilities are critical.
• An Entrepreneurial Spirit is essential. 

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Material Science & Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with a concentration in inorganic materials development 
• Industrial R&D experience, >5 years is a plus
• Proven track record of successful experimental design and implementation
• Alumina, rare earth, or zeolite development experience a plus
