Research and Development Manager manages and directs the research and development programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new products. Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques. Being a Research and Development Manager oversees complex research projects, analyzes results and provides recommendations based on findings. Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures they are on time and within budget. Additionally, Research and Development Manager may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/director. The Research and Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     The Center for Human Development is Alaska's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Located off campus, but within the UAA College of Health, the Center for Human Development is a vibrant culture of over 50 employees working towards the same mission, that of improving the lives of individuals with disabilities through training, research, and community services. As a research technician you will have the opportunity to interact with data through data collection, data entry, data analysis and reporting. You will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to parents of children with disabilities, mothers of young children, entrepreneurs with disabilities, individuals with disabilities who receive waiver services, students with disabilities, community services, schools and more. We are a hybrid office, with the expectation that employees work at least two days per week in the Anchorage office so that you have the opportunity to interact with your team and other employees working towards our mission.     Minimum Qualifications:

    One year college coursework and/or training in a field relevant to research (e.g., social science, natural science, mathematics, statistics) and one year experience in a field relevant to research or disability, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Position Details:

    This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
