The LBNF Far Site Conventional Facilities (FSCF) Junior Project Engineer will be a Fermilab employee stationed in Lead, South Dakota at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF). The LBNF FSCF Junior Project Engineer works directly with the LBNF Project Engineer and reports to the LBNF FSCF Project Manager, who is also a Fermilab employee.
YOU WILL:
* Co-manage the project's Web-Based Project Management System with LBNF Project Engineer.
* Co-manage significant reviews via Smartsheet a web-based collaborative work management software
* Coordinate project meetings and draft meeting minutes.
* Participate in review of shop drawings for compliance with design drawings.
* Track Requests-For-Information (RFI) and transmit RFIs to appropriate parties and receive dispositions.
* Perform field inspections of current and completed work, both surface and underground, to compare to design drawings and record compliance or non-conformance.
* Provide field support during design and construction period, to include as-built measurements and advice on minor field modifications to design.
* Attend pre-activity meetings and assist construction coordinators with workflows pertaining to the Web-Based Project Management System
* Coordinate field modifications as appropriate.
* Review contractually required submittals and distribute to subject matter experts and/or advise FSCF Project Team on acceptance or rejection for items like invoices/pay applications, job hazard analysis (JHA), required tests and inspections, etc.
* Maintain document organization (drawings, invoices, contracts, QA/QC documentation, commissioning documentation, etc.). Assist the FSCF Project team in coordinating with SURF facilities management to support oversight of the construction contracts for which LBNF has sole or shared financial responsibility.
* Assist the FSCF Project team with providing cost, schedule, and scope management of the Far-Site Conventional Facilities within the LBNF Project, including earned value management, monthly reporting, and participation in LBNF and SURF project reviews.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
* Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
We Are Looking For:
Minimum Experience and Education:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution
* 1 year of relevant engineering experience
* Must be willing to travel domestically and/or internationally as required (less than 10%)
* Must be able to work outside normal work hours
* Must be able to work at heavy civil construction sites
Preferred Experience:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong computer skills
* OSHA training
* QA/QC training
* Knowledge of Earned Value Management systems (EVMS)
