They collaborate with team members to evaluate the practicality of production ideas and eventually develop them into reliable, sellable products. Product development directors rely on experience with past product concepts and management skills to plan and evaluate a team's goals. They often understand how to operate independently and exercise proper judgment on new ideas and development plans.
Job Responsibilities:- Accelerate time-to-market with a focus on value delivery.
- Leads current state, transition state, future-state program development, with major milestone delivery aligned to goals and objectives.
- Utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives.
- Responsible for leading sustaining engineering projects, driving transfer of new and existing products into manufacturing, drive product improvements seamlessly into the manufacturing operation.
- Manages outsourcing and co-sourcing framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers and determines their use across the program.
- Partners with leadership team and other business partners to coordinate and communicate program/release goals, objectives, and potential outcomes.
- Establish SOP’s and ensure overall program governance via appropriate functions, policies, and procedures.
- Advises, builds, and maintains relationships across the wider business partners’ community.
- Utilizes feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity and partners with others to coach to continuously improve programs.
- Oversees the execution of product work streams, their progress compared with the plan and the production of agreed deliverables.
- Monitors and coordinates requirements across all projects and resolves conflicts.
Job Qualifications:- 6 Experience (4 years of managerial experience); Prefer experience in manufacturing or consumer products. Prefer experience in working with PHA to create new product.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering or related discipline.
- Results driven with demonstrated ability working in a high-performance, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in process improvement and project management.
- Must have good attention to details, manage multiple, complex tasks and manage the bigger picture.
- Able to work systematically and logically to resolve problems, address opportunities, or manage the situation at hand; ability to identify causes, relationships, and implications.
- Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement with all levels of the organization.
- Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities and use of Microsoft Office Suites.
- High energy, demonstrates urgency, purpose, and fast pace.
- In addition to exceptional leadership, must have a roll-up your sleeves attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with non-technical team members. Proven ability to discern business requirements and translate into technical specifications.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to build and execute programs, combined with tactical ability to execute simultaneously against multiple competing priorities.
- Cultivates an environment where team members respect and model the company values.
- Prefer experience/certification in Lean/Six Sigma process.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated history of developing new products, a history of executing new product patents is a plus.
- Experience in paper products, paper coatings, injection molding, profile or sheet extrusion, thermoforming, and other plastics processing is also a plus.
- 3D CAD.
Working Conditions:- Visual Acuity (read, inspect objects, operator machinery, view a computer, analyze data).
- Frequent periods spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about.
- Environment will range from air-conditioned office to hot/humid manufacturing environment.
- Occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light-medium objects (8-25 lbs.).
- Overnight travel will be required (~15-25%).
