Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration, and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU. REDE leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. REDE directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Research Administration, Office of Engaged Research, Office of Research Development, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Undergraduate Research, Office of Research and Innovation Campus Development, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Compliance Monitoring, and the Small Business and Technology Development Center. ECU's Office of Research Development provides faculty researchers with the tools and support necessary to generate competitive extramural grant proposals. The office provides a variety of support activities for faculty, including networking events, grant writing workshops, and research trainings. Additionally, the office furnishes tools to help researchers identify potential grant funding organizations. |
Job Duties |
INTERNAL POSTING: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University Create, deliver, and organize professional development opportunities (workshops, seminars, lectures, trainings, etc.) to advance research and scholarly activities across ECU. Work closely with the REDE leadership team to generate actionable ideas that yield strategic direction and thematic alignment to grow ECU's sponsored activities portfolio and further develop its reputation as a future focused, innovation driven university. Collaborate with senior REDE leadership to promote strategic growth in the institutional research enterprise, expand research capabilities and capacities, and ensure effective support for research projects and priority areas.
