    Position Summary:
    The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Idaho has a two-year position (beginning Spring 2023) available for a postdoctoral scholar to contribute to Dr. Vanessa Anthony-Stevens' educational research projects, Indigenous Knowledge for Effective Education Program (IKEEP), a new project Cultivating Relationships (CR), and the Cultivating Indigenous Research Communities for Leadership in Education and STEM (CIRCLES) Alliance. The postdoc will primarily focus on the research projects under Dr. Vanessa Anthony-Stevens but will also be involved in supporting EHHS work towards its goals of expanding academic specializations in Indigenous research and education. A key part of this role will be to help build new professional learning programs for educators serving Indigenous communities and supporting EHHS to expand research capacity that promotes reciprocal and sovereignty-affirming partnerships with Indigenous communities.

    As part of EHHS, the Postdoc will be connected to American Indian Studies affiliates and the McCall Outdoor Science School Certificate in Environmental Education and Science Communication to build a stronger community of scholars focused on Indigenous and land-based knowledge. The postdoc will provide co-mentorship to graduate students and undergraduate students. The postdoc will also take on academic mentorship responsibilities by helping facilitate graduate student and faculty workshops where new and experienced scholars can share research and publication proposals focused on Indigenous research partnerships and tribal nation building
    This is a full-time, 12-month academic position. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2023. ABD candidates with an anticipated degree conferral date prior to the position start date are welcome to apply.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Education, Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Natural Resources with a social science focus, or a related social scientific discipline.




    • Experience in collecting and analyzing empirical data
    • Experience working with indigenous populations






    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working with Tribal Nations, Native and Indigenous communities, and K-12 educators in formal or informal contexts
    • Record of communicating research results via peer-reviewed publications and presentations
    • Ability to design and teach academic courses
    • Ability to mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students
    • Experience with community-engaged research and qualitative methodologies
    • Enrolled member of a U.S. Federally recognized Tribe (Morton v. Mancari, 1974)
