The reporter must be willing to spend time outside the office and available for day/night and/or weekend work as needed for proper coverage of local news, meetings and events. 

    Hi-Desert Publishing Company is a multimedia company based in Yucca Valley, California, a desert community nestled between Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Springs.  Yucca Valley is a small town with a small-town feel. Candidates must like small town life in the mountains and/or desert, with beautiful scenery and recreation, four seasons and snow in the winter.

    The position is a full-time job that requires a variety of journalism skills from reporting on government affairs and writing compelling features on local issues to covering sports, special events and breaking news. Photography skills, multi-media and social media experience is a plus. The candidate must have strong grammar skills and be AP-Style proficient. 

    Publications at this location include the Hi-Desert Star, The Desert Trail, Observation Post. www.hidesertstar.com and several special sections.  

    We offer benefit and retirement packages, and paid vacations. This position is open and needs to be filled immediately. Candidates from surrounding area are preferred. We do not offer relocation reimbursement.
