Rental Technician performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on rental fleet equipment. Trained to remove, disassemble, assemble, clean components. Being a Rental Technician begin to use service manuals properly and select correct tools, specifications. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Rental Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Rental Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for performing make-ready repairs to all vacant units prior to move-in.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (40 hours a week)
Perform repairs to make-ready units in a timely manner
- Is responsible for 24 hour on-call, on a rotating schedule as delegated by the Maintenance Supervisor, and respond to on-call requests
- Assist with trashing out units if necessary
- Assist with inventory control and utilization of maintenance materials and supplies
- Inspect properties for improvements and repairs and review with the Maintenance Supervisor
- Perform work order requests as necessary
- Ensure that the grounds are free of litter at all times
- Operate and perform scheduled maintenance properly on all equipment
- Paint interior and exterior as required
- Maintain a professional appearance in uniform and display a positive attitude at all times
- Be aware of personal hygiene and cleanliness while on the job
- Understand the importance of a good attitude and "team spirit"
- Must work well with other staff members
- Be cooperative in helping at another site as needed, and be flexible to work on multiple properties
- Assist the Property Manager and other staff members as requested
- Perform work orders with "same day completion" in mind, if possible
- Review work orders with Maintenance Supervisor on a daily basis
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor
- Responsible for keeping the Maintenance shop clean and in order at all times
- Be immediately available in the event of snow and maintenance emergencies
- After hours on call required on a rotating basis
- Must have reliable transportation
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Plumbing, electrical, carpentry skills
- Rental industry experience strongly preferred
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to get on roofs, into crawl spaces
- Maintenance experienced preferred
- Own tools preferred
- Be able to work with a team as well as independently
- Able to communicate and follow instructions
