Reliability Engineer analyzes and evaluates the reliability of products, equipment, components, and processes using engineering methodologies and tools. Develops the methods and measures utilized for reliability analysis based on product specifications, tolerances, or operating standards. Being a Reliability Engineer utilizes analysis techniques like FMEA, fault tree, and root cause analysis to identify problems. Oversees testing activities and reviews results. Additionally, Reliability Engineer creates risk-based failure mitigation plans. Proposes new or revised product designs, manufacturing processes and testing specifications that utilize best practices and will increase reliability. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to an engineering manager. The Reliability Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     What to Expect

    The Gigafactory Cell Quality and Field Reliability team is seeking an engineer to support field and manufacturing risk assessments, field failure root cause analysis, critical Li-ion cell component evaluation, and data analysis in both manufacturing and lab environments. Most projects will be multidisciplinary and focused on field reliability and safety, production throughput, and cost savings of Gigafactory Nevada cell & battery manufacturing.

    What You'll Do
    • Support the identification, root cause analysis, risk assessment, and resolution of new cell-related field failure and manufacturing quality issues
    • Support FMEA and Control Plan updates to ensure field and manufacturing issues identified are documented and addressed
    • Drive cross functional projects with manufacturing, supply chain, production quality, and development teams to establish product specifications
    • Collaborate with internal and external teams to evaluate and mitigate risk of Process Change Requests (PCRs)
    What You'll Bring
    • B.S./M.S. Engineering/Material Science or equivalent experience in battery/cell engineering
    • Demonstrated organization of large projects across various disciplines
    • Direct experience with complex technologies such as Li-ion cells/batteries, semiconductors, solar panels, etc.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members is essential
    • Desire to learn and use advanced Li-ion cell and battery characterization and analysis techniques
    • Detail-oriented with exceptional documentation, organization, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to use tools to produce, manage, and interpret data
