Reliability Engineer analyzes and evaluates the reliability of products, equipment, components, and processes using engineering methodologies and tools. Develops the methods and measures utilized for reliability analysis based on product specifications, tolerances, or operating standards. Being a Reliability Engineer utilizes analysis techniques like FMEA, fault tree, and root cause analysis to identify problems. Oversees testing activities and reviews results. Additionally, Reliability Engineer creates risk-based failure mitigation plans. Proposes new or revised product designs, manufacturing processes and testing specifications that utilize best practices and will increase reliability. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to an engineering manager. The Reliability Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.   • PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager supports planning of Major and Specialized Maintenance jobs. Collaborate and participate in Operations and Maintenance jobs, developing and executing Preventive, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance activity programs, and providing technical support to Maintenance and Operations Functions in Continuous Improvement Activities.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    (1)   To develop and to propose Preventive, Predictive and Autonomous Maintenance plans that equipments require from their start – up and throughout their life cycle, specifying updating frequency for each maintenance task, based on a normal operation and on the objectives of the Maintenance function.

    (2)   To suggest specific activities for inspection, lubrication, cleaning and change of parts to equipment, based on recommendations from the manufacturer, the supplier and from the own experience of the personnel in Plant, in order to timely detect and/or avoid equipment deterioration.

    (3)   To provide technical support and follow-up to Major and highly specialized Maintenance jobs.

    (4)   To direct work required for investigating costs of performances that seem to be out-of-line and recommend corrective actions.

    (5)   To assure that all Maintenance and Operating tasks in the Plant are scheduled and planned as specified, following up the quality of jobs.

    (6)   To promote ongoing improvement in equipments and administrative procedures. Work together with ongoing improvement teams, visualizing the opportunities of investigation to improve machines with respect to Availability and Reliability.

    (7)   To support and to promote technical development of personnel of Work Teams.

    (8)   To collect and to analyze equipment Maintenance history; to investigate repetitive damages, in order to evaluate effectiveness of Preventive – Predictive Maintenance and Operating Procedures. Inform Technical Office about design problems or incorrect selection of equipment. The analysis of root – cause should be elaborated together with the Work Teams (Maintenance with Production support)

    (9)   To contact original equipment manufacturers whenever it is necessary to resolve operating and Reliability problems.

    (10)To collaborate with Technical Office about the specification of new equipment, assuring Reliability of Operation and the lowest cycle of life.

    (11) To work with Work Teams visualizing modifications on existing facilities in order to enhance performance or Reliability and to determine the best cost/benefit relationship.

    (12)To control design and specifications of new parts or components that will be manufactured by a central (internal) workshop or by an external contractor.

    (13)To assist in planning Major Shutdown Work Requests with a high degree of specialization, regarding instructions, human resources estimates, materials, special tools and estimated duration of jobs.

    (14)To advise about technical problems found in equipment manufacturing, tests, facilities and manufacturing of modified parts and components.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    (1)   Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred

    (2) Five years experience in manufacturing facility preferred

    TRAINING:

    1. Quality System Familiarization, initially and whenever revisions occur to applicable quality system documents and/or where positions are changed and/or where job requirements are changed or modified.
    2. Personnel whose work can affect quality should be informed about the consequences to the customer of nonconformity to quality requirements.
    3. Ensure that its personnel are aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
    4. Applicable MSDS’s as required.
    5. Where required by local, state and/or national law.
    6. Internal and external courses as needed.
