Overview

Position Location: Cherokee, AL

THe Company is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Cherokee, Alabama site. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising the electrical substation on site. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high voltage systems (at least 1000 volts or 1 kV). This position will report to the site’s General Manager.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and oversee the operations of the electrical substation at our Ammonia plant in Cherokee, Alabama.

• Ensure the safe and reliable operation of high voltage electrical systems (at least 1000 volts or 1 kV), including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in electrical engineering within the industry.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
• Provide technical support and guidance to plant personnel, promoting effective communication and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on high voltage systems (at least 1000 volts or 1 kV).
• Strong knowledge of high voltage electrical systems, substation operations, and maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with trends, practices, and emerging technologies within the chemical plant industry.
• Proficient in electrical design software, engineering tools, and relevant industry standards.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with industry regulations.
• Professional certifications and licenses relevant to electrical engineering (e.g., PE license) are a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Willingness to work around high voltage, dust, chemicals, high pressure, high temperature, loud noises, and running equipment.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots and hearing protection).
• Must be able to lift as much as 25 lbs.
