Release Engineering Manager manages and oversees the software builds and releases. Directs the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around design and development of builds, scripts, installation procedures, and systems including source code control and issue tracking.     Directs the design, development and implementation of all major engineering projects including the coordination of all activities of the engineering department. Plans and supervises all phases of engineering including designing products from customer supplied data, preparing quotes, source tooling and launch products.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Develops and initiates procedures, methods and processes for projects
    • Directs department activities to modify existing designs
    • Review incoming request for quote, assign for preparation, monitor progress, check completed quote for accuracy and reasonableness
    • Directs launch activities by assigning engineers, monitoring progress, customer satisfaction, and budget compliance
    • Establish and adjust departmental priorities; Assign or shift resources as necessary
    • Participate in Directors review to ensure effectiveness of APQP initiative
    • Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities
    • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly
    • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience

    Requires BS in Engineering; 7-10 years of engineering experience including some project management experience; Background should also include automotive related experience, along with strong tooling, metal stamping and welding experience;  Experience with tubing would also be desirable.

     

    LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

     

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
