POSITION SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the new product introduction process. Overseeing the design and development of new products and tooling. Managing and coordinating new tooling projects built by internal and external resources. Serves as a technical expert to advise the engineering, sales teams and new product development teams to ensure maximum product quality and manufacturability.

- Ensures ISO and safety standards are adhered
- Possesses extensive technical knowledge of the company’s products and services, as well as a good working knowledge of the company’s methods and quality standards.
- Provide the overall leadership and direction to the engineering department while maintaining a work environment that promotes productivity, cooperation, and creativity.’
- Provide technical support to EPTAM’s sales team, including DFM recommendations, Budgetary mold and piece part cost estimates and material recommendations.
- Drafts the formal quote to the customer for the mold, piece part costs, NRE charges for equipment.
- Acts as a team leader and expert, driving internal and external customers through the lifespan of a project, from concept inception through plastic part/mold design, validation, and, finally, production.
- Coordinates the design, reviews and constructions of the injection mold tooling and equipment. Approves complex injection molds that are dimensionally accurate, dependable, and durable in construction.
- Leads efforts to ensure that molds produced are designed for longevity and reliability, with the highest standards for ease of service and maintenance of molds.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, performance management, and other supervisory activities for department staff.
- Determines allocation of internal and external resources for all new tooling design and fabrication to maximize efficiencies and quality.
- Actively works to reduce production loss due to outside tooling logistic or quality issues accomplished through proactive supplier management techniques.
- Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.
- Ensure further development of managers and supervisors through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, corrective action, and cascade training.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Expert knowledge of the plastic injection molding industry, with understanding of specialized manufacturing methods and practices related to the construction of high production plastic injection molds. Strong knowledge of the principles of plastic part design, including plastic resins and their molding characteristics.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to search and identify the root cause of complex engineering problems or challenges. Ability to quickly analyze rapidly changing circumstances and provide a sound strategic and tactical approach to address the situation.
- Applied knowledge of tool steels and alloy materials used in the manufacturing of injection molds
- Expertise with solid modeling software including SolidWorks, and Mold Filling software..
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software. Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of EPTAM’s software packages (IQMS).
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of experience and education,
- Experience: 15 years’ experience in an injections molding operation
- Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing/molding operation
- Knowledge of ISO9001 quality management systems, ISO 13485 preferred.
- OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with our internal and external customers. Basic knowledge of equipment. Advanced ability to read prints and use measuring equipment along with advanced math skills.
- Demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/leading, mentoring and/or organization development. Instills appropriate behavior in others in support of EPTAM values
