Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Reinsurance Specialist will work in a team environment to file reinsurance claims with the carrier on over-specific claims. When necessary, they will gather all documentation for proof of all claims. This person will run RX reports for filing, complete over-specific claims cover sheets, and document claim filings on Excel Spreadsheet at the time of filing. They will log all reimbursements in Excel and send letters to the clients regarding refunds. This person will also research unpaid and rejected over-specific claims and reply to the reinsurance companies. They will scan all submissions into WLT and keep files on these over-specific individuals. Balancing with the Marketing Department on all closing groups and updating the Client Data Sheet must be completed monthly. As with any job, there may be other tasks assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
PAY BASIS: Hourly
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
