Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The Facultative Casualty Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Chicago, IL office. Responsibilities include but not limited to: New business submissions and renewal submissions triage and set-up Rating of new and renewal submissions within proprietary rating system Review and analyze incoming submission details and related information for completeness accuracy and quality. Gather and analyze underwriting information including experience reports and CAB reports. Data entry related to reinsurance contracts and associated processes Utilizing industry websites to obtain additional information for accounts Regularly review and adhere to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements. File management and review including regularly following up with clients for outstanding information, utilizing an internal paperless system Manage underwriting relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries. Create official documents including binders, certificates, and endorsements Internal interface with claims, billing and audits as needed Ability to manage internal report updates based on manager discretion. Participates in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed. Special projects as needed. Qualifications, Education & Experience: Minimum 3 years commercial insurance or reinsurance experience preferred Proficient in MS Office, intermediate knowledge a minimum in Microsoft Excel Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: Thorough attention to detail and organizational skills Strong desk management, written and verbal communication skills. Comfort level with developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, clients and co-workers by phone, email or in person. Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work. Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude. Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple electronic systems. The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
