Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Experience working with catastrophe models a plus. Property Facultative experience preferred. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Property Underwriter with various occupancies including large accounts. Excellent marketing skills and established relationships with insurance companies. Strong interpersonal and writing skills with the ability to flourish in a team environment. The ability to interpret engineering reports. Prior Reinsurance experience a plus. The ability to interpret catastrophe modeling and actuarial methodologies and output. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
