Reinsurance Director is responsible for the administration of reinsurance plans. Maintains plan records and ensures compliance with federal regulations. Being a Reinsurance Director communicates with customers and assists with plan design and distribution when necessary. Ensures timely accounting, reporting and auditing. Additionally, Reinsurance Director researches and analyzes reinsurance prices and specifications. Communicates with underwriting area to verify the proper reinsurance administration is put in place. Supports the investigation of proposed reinsurance opportunities, rate comparisons, and profitability analysis. May have responsibility for reinsurance customer service. Has attained industry designations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Reinsurance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Reinsurance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     The Reinsurance Claims & Operations Specialist will ensure all operational aspects of assumed reinsurance business are completed in a timely manner, reinsurance data is acquired in line with all business requirements, and any operational risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated. This position is responsible for providing claim handling, strong relationship building, and project leadership in external client management while providing Claim products and services. The position will support internal customers (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, etc.) as well as external partners, primarily the ceding companies and their representatives as well as Waypoint.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    Handles and oversees Assumed Accounts involving claim and account level issues.

    • Manages claim activity and monitors all claim development for assigned accounts.
    • Conducts day-to-day assessment of company's reinsurance claims and validates them for payment.
    • Ensures that all Assumed Reinsurance claims/payments (including Legacy) are processed in TIRS.
    • Conducts coverage verification, investigation, evaluation, reserving, and authorization of claims payments and recovery.
    • Maintains accurate data of payments, reserves, scanned documents, new mail, etc.
    • Analyzes and produces reports highlighting large losses, coverage, and critical issues for review.
    • Alerts Management of significant loss development activity.

    Aids in the operational support and infrastructure of all aspects of Assumed Reinsurance Operations.

    • Develops and maintains supporting documentation for all processes and procedures.
    • Actively participates in department wide projects as required, contributes to companywide accounting initiatives.
    • Serves as a liaison for business with Senior Management, Legal, Accounting, IT, Internal Audit, Finance and Regulatory Departments to formulate and ensure adherence to compliance and operational policies and procedures.
    • Regularly shares information and analyses with Senior Management to determine potential impact on strategic initiatives and plans.
    • Mentors and coaches product users. May create and deliver training materials for implementation and maintenance of products.

    WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum five years of experience in Reinsurance required.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Reinsurance designation preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Strong interpersonal skills and proven project leadership abilities.
    • Ability to work independently in deriving solutions to new business problems.
    • Comfortable and competent in client interaction settings.
    • Ability to take ownership of Claims analyses.
    • Thorough knowledge of TIRS, knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to grasp analytic concepts and learn new tools and logic within established processes.
    • Adaptable to shifting workloads and building positive working relationships within the department.
    • Ability to cross-train others and ability to manage and to prioritize concurrent assignments and responsibilities.
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and problem-solving abilities.

    COMPENSATION

    The salary range listed for this position, $86,247.55 to $145,450.54, is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education. In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a substantial benefits package outlined below.
