    Job Summary/Basic Function
    The Employee Relations and Performance Specialist will primarily be responsible for addressing any employee relations concerns brought to Human Resources from both employees and supervisors. This individual will address a wide range of employee relations activities that include providing consultation, conflict management, informal mediation, complaint investigations, process guidance, and the input and electronic organization of documentation. This individual will work with all levels of campus leadership and will provide support to campus for such things such as HR policy compliance, discipline, and terminations. This position will help guide both supervisors and employees in completing various documentation related to employment concerns (i.e., performance improvement plans, discipline & reprimand, grievance, etc.). This will involve developing and editing templates, reviewing and making suggestions regarding related campus policies, and working with campus leadership to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

    This position will also be responsible for managing and overseeing Weber State’s campus-wide Performance Review Enhancement Program (PREP). This includes review of our current PREP program and spearheading the development and implementation of campus-wide updates to the program. This also includes coordinating with others in HR to address campus-wide training needs related to PREP.

    This position will work closely with many offices across campus, including the Office of Equal Opportunity and University Legal Counsel.

    Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Two years related experience

    Preferred Qualifications
    Preferred:
    • Three years of directly-related HR experience in an employee-relations role
    • Higher education HR experience
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • High proficiency in writing ability
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with both management and colleagues
    • Ability to understand, interpret, communicate, and apply appropriate sections of applicable employment-related laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies
