  • The Regulatory & Compliance Specialist is responsible for keeping regulatory documentation and performing system works for food product development. The regulatory responsibilities include responsibility for the maintenance of appropriate records to meet corporate, government, and consumer requirements. The documentation responsibilities include building ingredient and product specifications, providing specs to other departments as necessary, updating specs as necessary, filing, keeping, updating Product Development documentations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with other business managers, the regulatory team, and the food safety team to ensure accuracy of correct data.
    • Ensure new item data are compliant with all Food Safety policies
    • Gather and review documentation legitimacy, expiration, and accuracy.
    • Data entry and maintenance of vendor verification information.
    • Review and provide regulatory guidance in maintaining accurate information on ecommerce platform.
    • Stays abreast of current FDA regulations and helps assess impact on labeling of our product portfolio.
    • Provides support to other teams as necessary.
    • Holds foundational knowledge of macro and micronutrients, ingredient functionality, standard of identity, etc. as they pertain to labeling.
    • Provide technical guidance as appropriate in response to product-related consumer inquiries.
    • Maintains a proactive approach by identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement in all aspects of the team’s operation and in the business as related to labeling, regulatory and nutrition.
    • Creates and develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with related trainings.
    • Provide regulatory and technical input throughout all phases of product development
    • Support product validations for new products and reformulations.
    • Communicate with and provide guidance to vendors on new item process and critical documentation
    • Collect information/documentation from various sources for specific item projects
    • Create and maintain status log of new scale item projects
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    Key Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics/Nutrition, Food Science, or related field
    • Ability to communicate and build relationships with internal business teams, partners, and store team members and guests
    • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
    • May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
    • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
    • Ability to visualize, organize, and creatively execute a new program or project
    • Excellent computer skills, proficient with all Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Ability to work with little direct supervision, self-motivated, goal oriented, ability to multi-task and follow through
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
    • Proven leadership skills and abilities
    • Moderate travel is required with some overnights
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to function as a team and get along with others
    • Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude
