Regulatory Engineer II

  • Regal Rexnord is looking for a Regulatory Engineering Level II to work closely with our New Product Development and Sustainability Engineering teams. This candidate will have extensive experience with electric motors and capable of developing & executing compliance programs for global products. This position will help identify compliance and standards requirements for induction and electrically controlled variable speed motors and certifications required by regional regulatory bodies like but not limited to UL, DOE, C.E., MORE. This role will include collaboration with cross-functional global teams, providing compliance guidance to development teams and senior leadership. In addition to these responsibilities, this individual will be responsible for maintaining current lab accreditations.

    Job Responsibilities: Electric Motor

    • Work with third party agency representatives and Regal Rexnord leadership to ensure existing products and lab processes meet agency requirements
    • Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing and customers on new and existing products and applications.
    • Provide agency and regulatory support for all the NPD programs and ensure full understanding of the electronics drive standards.
    • Interface and Advise project leaders, engineers and designers on agency safety requirements including tests and design constraints to minimize risk of injury or product damage while ensuring to meet compliance standards, minimize costs and streamline approval process.
    • Ensure new and existing products are designed, manufactured, and maintained against industry product safety standards.
    • Identify product certification strategy for new product development for global portfolio, to include definition of applicable standards, pass/fail criteria, review of test results, advising on compliant designs and completion of technical files associated with achieving compliance
    • Participate in design reviews to ensure compliant design
    • Attend any UL and other agency training classes to stay up to date on all new standards
    • Work with the lab teams to ensure the lab DAP and NVLAP certification is up to date and stays current through out the year.
    • Monitor and actively participate in the development and revisions of regulations, industry standards and product safety requirements for Climate Solutions products and their related applications from DOE, CEC, UL, CSA, ASHRAE, AHRI, IEC, EU, etc.
    • Review the spec sheets and test methods for compliance to ensure we are meeting all the expectations
    • Organize and Maintain all the regulatory records in a central SharePoint location.
    • Provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with the different design and software and NPD teams during the product development cycle.
    • Help focus team to meet delivery commitments. Deliver high quality work and meet the business metrics.
    • Work with some of the international agencies such as KIVA, TUV to drive certifications.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong decision making skills
    • 10 years of relevant work experience in product development with strong interaction with regulatory compliance
    • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
    • Highly skilled with MS Office applications
    • Possess strong communication skills, verbal and written
    • Capable of meeting a product development schedule
    • Experienced in engaging and participating in UL or other standards creation
    • Lead lab based audits
