The Regulatory Affairs Manager will work closely with senior management to ensure strict adherence to all applicable internal and regulatory agency programs, policies, and procedures. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. You will report to the Vice President of Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance.
You Will
- Enhance and maintain a comprehensive regulatory compliance program, ensuring all Vornado products are compliant with applicable local, state, federal and international regulations, and standards for their intended markets. Strong focus on product safety, energy, chemical, recyclability, and repairability regulations.
- Actively participate and provide guidance during product development and continuous improvement process to ensure comprehensive risk assessment and regulatory compliance of products (both sourced and manufactured) with applicable US and International requirements.
- Actively advises Vornado project teams of any regulatory compliance updates or new requirements in a timely manner. Recommends plans of action to comply with any updates including schedule and associated costs.
- Develop, maintain, and proactively update requisite knowledge and expertise of US and International regulations, including pending legislation impacting Vornado, with emphasis on product safety, materials and chemical composition, and related packaging and labeling requirements. Provides summary of requirements to management and project teams, as needed.
- Manage external consultants and resources where appropriate with respect to issues requiring specialized regulatory expertise, including global chemicals management, consumer product recalls, new market research, etc.
- Serve as a primary contact with external associations and regulatory related organizations, including the CPSC, EPA, DOE, FCC, CARB, etc. and international counterparts.
- Prepares, reviews, updates, and ensures accuracy and correctness of all required agency documentation.
- Direct and manage regulatory investigation and data mining projects with internal teams, third party agencies, and Vornado factory partners, including scope, requirements gathering, timeline, and budget approval.
- Maintains Excellent project, file, and report organization and management for purposes of status reporting, product/project decision history, and audit requirements.
- Participate in system and process audits through in person activity and data mining. Prepare reports for senior leadership.
- Conducts oneself with unquestionable integrity and maintains company sensitive information in strict confidence.
- Effectively communicates and coordinates compliance activities with company personnel, external clients, customers, contractors, and officials. Develops strong working relationships to effectively achieve these objectives.
- Support Vornado Sales and Product Management teams with wholesale customers and consumers on regulatory matters
- Help develop regulatory compliance training programs and deliver specialized training as appropriate.
You Have
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis is required; employer sponsorship for employment-based visa status is not available for this position.
- This is not a remote position.
- Bachelor’s degree in scientific / technical discipline, logistics or project management, or directly equivalent work experience required.
- The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years regulatory affairs experience in a consumer product or manufacturing environment.
- Strong background and previous experience managing the regulatory reporting and certification process of consumer products, including experience with CPSC, EPA, DOE, FCC, CARB, PROP65, TSCA, EU REACH, ROHS, and Circular Economy.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory information into compelling stakeholder-friendly language, including the importance of regulatory compliance. Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Expert working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint is mandatory for data mining, organization, and reporting activity.
- Excellent project management, time management, analytical, problem solving, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Experience communicating with executive team and handling confidential information.
- Must work well independently and within an active cross-functional team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
