Regulatory Affairs Director oversees regulatory matters and executes the strategy to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations. Develops processes and systems to ensure that all necessary licensing, filings, certifications, and permits are processed and monitored. Being a Regulatory Affairs Director establishes monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing regulations. Anticipates new or changing regulations and coordinates with internal stakeholders to develop strategies to address changes in product, operations, or testing requirements. Additionally, Regulatory Affairs Director investigates and addresses any reported issues of non-compliance. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Regulatory Affairs Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Regulatory Affairs Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     WHAT YOU’LL DO 
    As the Director, Regulatory Affairs, you will:

    • Identify, review, monitor, and analyze emerging, proposed, and enacted federal, and occasionally state, policies and regulations that affect the pharmacy profession.
    • Prepare persuasive legal and policy analysis, positions, and recommendations for communications to regulatory agencies and administration officials, APhA members and the pharmacy community, and APhA’s Board of Trustees that convey APhA’s positions.
    • Lead member workgroups, communities, special interest groups, and other committees in relevant areas and establish and nurture relationships with members who can provide support and information for specific policy issues
    • Collaborate with other APhA departments to support communications, publications, and education supporting APhA’s regulatory advocacy positions and efforts
    • Prepare issue briefs, advocacy materials and reports, and present APhA’s positions to public audiences, including public officials, federal and state policymakers, other health care professions, and members

     

    WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR 
    APhA may be the right fit for you have: 

    • A bachelor’s degree is required in health, political science, public policy, pharmacy and/or a related health care profession. A law degree (JD) is preferred. 
    • 8 years of experience, in policy, advocacy, and government affairs at the state or federal level, with particular knowledge and experience in pharmacy practice. 

     The following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

    • The ability to identify, review, monitor, and analyze emerging, proposed, and enacted federal and state policies and regulations that affect the pharmacy profession. 
    • Experience preparing persuasive legal and policy analysis, positions, and recommendations for communications to regulatory agencies and administration officials, members and the pharmacy community, and Board of Trustees. 
    • Experience collaborating and leading groups and projects.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines for written communications. 
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent research, analytical, and quantitative skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Ability to self-direct and make decisions.
    • Ability to speak in public and represent the association in public forums.

     

    LOCATION: Washington, DC – Hybrid, two days a week in the office (Tuesday & Thursday)
