Overview

The Nursing Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Swing Bed Coordinator, Case Manager, and other members of DRMC nursing leadership. 

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year hospital or post-acute healthcare experience with preference in case management or clinical department.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Proficient in Microsoft Word

Responsibilities

• Assists the Swing Bed Coordinator with coordination of referrals, admissions, and discharges.
• Assists the Case Manager with discharge planning of all Acute Care patients.
• Assists the Case Manager regarding clinical insurance review completion and/or issues.
• Forwards the necessary patient clinical information for all admissions, concurrent, and retrospective insurance reviews to payers for the completion and/or issues.
• Monitors, follow-up, documents and tracks payer responses/requests of completed clinical reviews, including approvals, appeals, and denials, and communicates these to the appropriate personnel (hospital staff, Case Manager, Swing Bed Coordinator, Nurse Manager, Admissions, Business Office, etc…)
• Monitors and tracks the total hospital certified days of the patient for payers (commercial, managed care, and Medicaid) and communicates missing certifications to the case manager or swing bed coordinator.
• Organizes and prepares the necessary clerical elements for the weekly Interdisciplinary Discharge Planning Meeting.
• Provides support with daily needs and special projects as needed by nursing.
• Completes duties in an orderly and timely manner.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
