Through targeted outreach, relationship-building, and strategic partnerships, the Referral Specialist will drive patient referrals to our medical facility, ultimately improving access to healthcare services for our community.
Duties:
- Review and process referral requests from healthcare providers
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for referrals
- Coordinate appointments with specialists and ensure timely scheduling
- Communicate with patients regarding referral status, appointment details, and any necessary follow-up
- Maintain accurate records of all referral activities in the electronic medical record system
- Collaborate with medical coding staff to ensure accurate coding of referral diagnoses
- Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes as needed
- Provide support to the front office staff by answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient inquiries
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
- Previous experience working in a dental or medical office setting is highly desirable
