Recreational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the recreational therapy department including policies and procedures. Sets and implements guidelines for recreational therapy programs. Being a Recreational Therapy Director conducts patient programs in areas of social interaction, theater, games, crafts, and music. Communicates the results of patient care to other health services. Additionally, Recreational Therapy Director may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require professional certification. The Recreational Therapy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • Conducts activity and/or interest assessment as needed for clients.
    • Serves as a client and/or Center advocate, consultant and liaison with a wide variety of community agencies.
    • Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Treatment Plan based on the clinical needs identified in the treatment team's assessments and daily reviews.
    • Participates in the client and family education process.
    • Serves as a special event coordinator for the facility.
    • Facilitates individual therapy and therapeutic groups and maintains continuity of care.
    • Completes supporting documentation for services provided to clients.
    • Communicates any changes Director regarding ACCESS and discharge planning functions.
    • Maintains documentation in accordance with applicable Centerwide, state and federal standards and guidelines.
    • Performs other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives.


      Who are we looking for?

      • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
        • Must be able to type at least 27 wpm
        • Must have a current Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record while meeting company insurance requirements.
