Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Pediatric Specialty Care in Point Pleasant, PA (Bucks County) is seeking an motivated and enthusiatic Recreational Therapist for Full Time! We are currently seeking a Recreational Therapist to provide treatment services and recreation activities to individuals using a variety of techniques in order to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual functioning in order to facilitate full participation in life.

    Recreational Therapist Shift Options (7.5-hour shifts):

    • Shift: 10:00am-6:00pm, with weekend availability!

    Recreational Therapist Status Defined:

    Responsibilities

    Day-to-Day tasks for Recreational Therapist include, but are not limited to:

    • Complete a comprehensive assessment of each child, and determine needs areas
    • Plan course of treatment to address needs areas by writing individualized goals for the child
    • Implement activity-based interventions to work toward accomplishing goals developed by therapist
    • Evaluate the current plan quarterly to assess effectiveness of goals and interventions
    • Document the process
    • Assist nursing staff and other disciplines as needed
    • Attend program meetings, such as IEPs, ISPs, appointments etc

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from an accredited institution required
    • “CTRS” (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) credentialed preferred
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities
    • Experience working in a long term care or hospital setting
    • Experience with pediatric population
    • Must be 21 years or older
